The European Satellite Navigation Competition

The European Satellite Navigation Competition is an international competition that recognizes the best ideas for innovative applications in the field of satellite navigation. In 2009 the competition will take place in 15-20 high-tech regions. The competition is meant to further strengthen these regions’ cooperation at an international level, particularly in developing applications and services in support of the European satellite navigation system Galileo.

The UK SatNav Challenge is the UK entry into the European Satellite Navigation Competition, which is a programme aimed at Companies, entrepreneurs, research institutes, universities, and private individuals. Target groups can therefore be defined as:

  • Start-up companies
  • Small and medium sized companies
  • Developers in large companies
  • Research associates and other university staff
  • Students
  • Private researchers

In the following fields of location based businesses:

IT, telecommunications, GIS, satellite navigation, satellite communication, aviation, aerospace, maritime, environment, oil & gas, mining, logistics, automotive, telematics, recreation, sports, outdoor, tourism.

All ideas will be reviewed and evaluated by a national Panel of experts with an opportunity to become the UK Winner and to participate for the title of overall "Galileo Master" for Europe. Projects at any stage of development are accepted {from single ideas to market ready propositions that show innovative thinking and market potential.
