Did you know you can get advice and support on raising finance from experienced and successful entrepreneurs and investors – FREE OF CHARGE?
If you are looking for funding of £10,000 to start or grow your business, there is a team of highly experienced and connected mentors offering their time and advice free of charge via ‘Understanding Finance for Business’ – a programme delivered by St John’s Innovation Centre and funded by EEDA.
So far the team, comprising entrepreneurs, investors, former bankers and sector specialists, has helped businesses in the East of England raise over £1m at no cost to the companies.
David Gill, Managing Director at St John’s Innovation Centre said:
Most businesses need funding of some kind or another, particularly in their early years, and a wrong decision can be costly. Understanding Finance for Business offers companies free access to a wealth of experience from people who have ‘been there and done it’. The time, support and advice we offer could cost hundreds of pounds in consultancy fees but it’s offered free because the programme is publicly funded. So this is really a call to action for businesses in the region to sign up now and make the most of the team’s support while it’s guaranteed.
‘Understanding Finance for Business’ is delivered via a combination of workshops and one-to-one mentoring. The first workshop covers the big picture and the second looks at specific funding sources (e.g. grant, bank or equity) in a more focused way. After these, if the team thinks you would benefit from one-to-one support to get you to an investment ready position, you will be supported and advised in your journey to secure funding. This may include one-to-one advice on your application or pitch, and a practice pitch to 'friendly' investors ahead of an opportunity to pitch for 'real'.
Workshops are scheduled up to the end of June 2011. Whilst it is hoped that the programme will continue after that, there is no guarantee, so it is vital that companies sign up now to ensure they benefit. For a list of upcoming dates visit http://www.stjohns.co.uk/finance/workshop-format-and-dates.
